In the European context
Where Paris lands among the seven atlas cities - as shares of each city's own catalogue, never raw counts.
Method & reuse
- The census. Every catalogued Paris venue scored on twelve dimensions; a dedicated queer space is unmistakably queer, a queer-friendly venue carries visible queer programming without being defined by it. Exact thresholds: queerness ≥ 0.8 and ≥ 0.6.
- The map. Each profiled venue is placed into its real arrondissement by coordinates; the shade is the count of dedicated queer spaces inside. Venues outside the mapped arrondissements sit in the wider metro and are not shown.
- Paris, a note. The map covers the twenty arrondissements - the city proper. A meaningful share of Paris venues sit in the banlieue (Pantin, Montreuil, Saint-Ouen and beyond); those fall outside the arrondissements and are not counted here.
- Boundary data. Paris arrondissements outlines from the public-domain click_that_hood dataset (arrondissements), projected and simplified for display. Base geography © its respective source.
- Fair comparison. This edition never compares Paris to other cities by count. Cross-city figures live in The Queer Night: Europe, as shares of each city's own catalogue.
